What are our goals for this Kick-Off Meeting?

1. Discussion of Possible Joint Topics for the World Forum

• New raw materials awareness in society, economy, science and politics (Which lessons can be learned from modern raw materials countries?)
• Propagation and matching of educational standards for sustainable development (best practice examples)
• International exchange and internships of students and lecturers
• Risk management, identification and evaluation of risks, approaches for avoidance of environmental hazards
• Environmental and social standards in education

2. Discussion of Possible Strategies / Roadmap of the World Forum

• Definition of joint topics
• Definition of joint aims and objectives
• Definition of a mission for the World Forum, e.g.
  • education of highly qualified and responsible experts
  • strengthening the position of Universities of Resources in their responsibility for sustainability within the raw materials sector

3. Discussion of Possible Activities of the World Forum

• Organization of annual or bi-annual conferences (each time on another continent) and regional thematic workshops
• Introduction of common standards in education (best practice)
• Establishment of an Internet platform for teaching content and student discussion
• Release of joint statements and positions
• Award of the “World Forum Carlowitz Prize” to recognize achievements regarding the implementation of sustainability in education
